The 2019 Humans to Mars Summit starts Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Doors open at 7:30 am on Tuesday, and at 8:00 am on Wednesday & Thursday. Please make a note of it on your calendar. Additional details are below.

Please note that you MUST have a valid, government-issued photo ID AND either a digital or printed copy of this confirmation available for your admittance to the conference, the cocktail receptions, the Wednesday luncheon, and the Capitol Hill briefing. STUDENT attendees must present a VALID Student ID from their School or University in order to pick up their name badge. MEDIA attendees must be pre-registered as media and should check in at the separate Media registration table.

PARKING:

National Academy of Sciences:
There is no public parking and very limited street parking at the National Academy of Sciences Building and we strongly recommend taking Metro, Uber, Lyft, or a DC Taxicab, rather than driving your own vehicle.

Summit attendees will not be permitted to park in the very small NAS lot on 21st Street.

NAS is approximately 9 blocks (11-minute walk) from the Foggy Bottom Metro Station on the Blue/Orange/Silver Line.

Cosmos Club:

There is no public parking at the Cosmos Club, and we strongly recommend taking Metro, Uber, Lyft, or a DC Taxicab, rather than driving your own vehicle.

The Cosmos Club is just a few short blocks from Metro. Take the Red Line to Dupont Circle and exit the station on Q Street. Walk one-and-a-half blocks west to 2121 Massachusetts Avenue.

BREAKFASTS AND BREAKS:

Breakfasts and breaks are open ONLY to those who purchased a full or daily registration to the conference at either the Early-Bird, Regular or Late Registration Rates, as well as Speakers and Sponsor Attendees at the Supporter Level and above. They are not available for Student or Media Registrations. The significantly discounted prices for these tickets do not include the cost of providing food.

SECONDARY REGISTRATION EVENTS:

Admittance to all secondary events is by separate registration only and you must purchase your registration to these events through the event registration page at https://h2m.exploremars.org. Your original conference registration confirmation number is required to register for secondary events. The following all require paid secondary registration and attendance is limited. Registrations will not be available on site, so please register for these events in advance.

LUNCH OPTIONS:

The Cafeteria at NAS is for employees only. Please do not try to use their facility as they are not equipped to handle the number of people attending the Summit and we don’t want to create any issues with our gracious host.

There are several options for lunch within a few blocks of NAS, as follows:

A number of food trucks offering a diverse variety of food (at least 10-15 that we’ve counted on a couple of occasions) can be found on Virginia Ave, NW between 21st and 20th Streets, NW, about a block and a half north of NAS.

Just another couple of blocks away in the 1800 block of E Street NW at are several eateries and Starbucks is located on the corner of 20th and E Streets, NW.

Finally, somewhat farther afield (roughly a 10-minute walk up 21st Street, NW) are all of the restaurants near George Washington University. A comprehensive list can be found at https://dining.gwu.edu/where-eat.

DRESS CODE:

The dress code for the conference is business casual, except for the Wednesday evening reception at the Cosmos club.

The Cosmos Club dress code is: gentlemen are expected to wear jackets, dress slacks, a collared long-sleeved shirt (tucked-in) or turtleneck at all times. Ladies are expected to dress in an equivalent fashion, which means dresses, suits, skirts or dress slacks with jackets or tops of equivalent formality.
