NIAC, Senior Science Advisor
Dr. Turner is an internationally recognized expert in astronaut radiation risk management and he is the Senior Science Advisor to the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Program, which is charged with creating a vision of future space opportunities to lead NASA into the twenty-first century. He has nearly 40 years of experience with space systems and space environment studies. For nine years he was the ANSER point of contact to NIAC’s predecessor, the NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (also known as NIAC). He received his Bachelors and Masters in Physics from the University of Florida, and his Ph.D in Physics from the Ohio State University. Dr. Turner’s contributions to NASA were recognized with the award of the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal in October, 2015. He has served on several National Academy committees and he is a full Member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
